Week 2 New Car

This year for our family 2012 is the year of the Cars. Week two and our plans are in motion.  We purchased a new family car, a Holden Sportswagon! I’m going from a white station wagon to a white station wagon (Sportswagon).  This is a list of features I have previously lived without, for the most part features I didn’t even know I needed or wanted in a vehicle:
A CD/MP3 player
Drink holders
Cruise control
Alloy wheels
Power windows
Automatic headlights
Reverse parking sensors
Infotainment screen
Electronic stability control (Ok so I’m not even sure what that one means)
EBD (Ditto- I have no idea)

Rodneys says the best thing about this car is he finally got me out of a Ford as that is all I have ever owned since he’s known me. I am not a car person so I don’t get the whole Holden/Ford rivalry. All I know is that the new car is a far cry from my 1993 EB Ford Falcon station wagon. I now feel like I’m driving something we once dreamed about when watching ‘Back to the future’ as kids.

Next Wednesday is Rodney’s birthday so we decided to take the new car for a spin and go back to Young where Rodney is from. Any excuse really, we love going back and visiting the family. Max especially loves playing with his big cousins. He adores them. Max really turns it ‘on’ for the family, he was running around his Nans house when I said “Slow down tiger” he stopped, turn to me, pointed at himself and replied with a very sarcastic “No Mum, I’m Maxy”.
Driving home that night Rodney hits a bunny (a massive hare to be more specific), thankfully no damage done to the new car. After, he tells me he once was told every time a rabbit dies someone falls pregnant. We had a laugh at this…not a minute later another gigantic hare jumps out and is subsequently mowed down, Rodney yells out “TWINS!”  The cars new name is now BK, think about it.

I love school holidays, it gives me a chance to reconnect with people I have neglected during the school term. I still have a lot of people I need to coffee, lunch or shop with these school holidays. This week Max returned to daycare and I got my socialisation on. I had brunch with Peta at Idillica in Kingston that turned into coffee then a planning/ resourcing session at her house then it turned into shopping. I Also had a fabulous lunch with mum and our dear fiends Jill and Jane (pictured above). We concluded our lunch back at Janes place with a coffee, chocolate and our Mothers trying to impart words of wisdom about the birds and the bees…awkward and hilarious. Mum and Jill are very wicked when they get together. Did I mention I love school holidays?
